Through our affiliation with USY, we provide opportunities for our CenterRock Youth members to develop meaningful friendships and invaluable leadership skills. They are empowered to discover and shape their own sense of belonging to the Jewish People, love for Israel, and commitment to inspired Jewish living with fun and purposeful experiences as the backdrop.

How to Join

It’s easy! Complete the membership application, submit your dues payment, and you’re officially a member and can participate in all chapter, divisional, and regional programs. We welcome any Jewish 5th-12th grader into our youth group programs with no requirement that your family be affiliated with Shir Shalom.

FAQs

What is USY?

USY is the youth movement of the United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism. The goal of USY is to bring Jewish teens closer to Judaism and Israel through learning and social interaction. USY is open to all high school aged students (9th-12th graders).

What is Kadima?

Kadima is the international youth organization for Jewish pre-teens, sponsored by the United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism. It is open to all 5th-8th graders.

What is EMEK and METNY?

CenterRock Youth is our congregational chapter. EMEK, our division, includes chapters from Orange, Rockland, and Westchester counties. EMEK belongs to the larger METNY Region encompassing the greater New York metro area.

What types of things do you do in USY and Kadima?

Whether you’re interested in sports, theater, traveling, meeting new friends, or community service projects, there’s something for everyone.

Are scholarships available to cover dues or event costs?

Children should never have to miss out on membership or an event due to financial considerations. Please contact our Center Rock USY Youth Advisor, Rachel Benner, or Rabbi Kurland through the Office to confidentially discuss special arrangements.
