Community Kindness is a Great Thing!

Hats off to Congregation Shir Shalom
Community Kindness is a Great Thing!
Our Shir Shalom Community Kindness Committee is so proud to announce that the first distribution of donations from our “Bimah Baskets” project in Rockland County has occurred. Amazingly, each donation is over $300.
Rhoda Bloom Food Pantry will always be a recipient. This wonderful organization depends on us to continue our obligation to supply foodstuffs. How fantastic that we can supplement with an added donation.
Next, of course, we need to help at home. Over $300 has been donated to help support our Shir Shalom Kiddush Fund. We all know the importance of community time together and what better way than sharing a Shabbat meal.
Our committee chose Soup Angels of Nyack as our last recipient. They too will receive over $300. The Soup Angels have been serving Thanksgiving Dinner for over 17 years. Our donation can help to serve over 200 meals. Their mission is to offer hot, nutritious food to anyone in need of a meal and companionship within our community. If anyone is interested in more information about this group, please contact Mirel Verhoeff and she will direct you to the individual to speak with.
Just a reminder that every time the funds from our Bimah Basket project build up, our committee will distribute them. The Food Pantry and Shir Shalom will always receive donations. The remaining third will be rotated to different county groups that help our Rockland community. Meals on Wheels and Helping Hands are already on the list so let’s keep up the fantastic work. If there is a community organization that you would like to bring to our attention, let Mirel know.
Thank you to our magnificent congregation for donating to this meaningful cause.
Every time you see the Bimah Baskets during services, you can smile, knowing we are making an impact in the community.
